Blockchain-based music streaming platform Audius has announced that it has launched a full integration of Solana NFT, allowing its more than six million users to begin displaying digital collections from the Solana library.
The integration will take place through Solana’s multi-chain wallet and browser extension Phantom. The new functionality will be available to Audius’ Silver-level profiles, accounts holding more than 100 of the platform’s native AUDIO tokens.
Roneil Rumburg, co-founder and CEO of Audius, said the partnership gives Solana its first “NFT discovery layer,” adding.
“The tools from Metaplex and Audius’ integration with Phantom make it possible for us to ship Solana support while maintaining the usability standards Audius is already known for.”
Metaplex is an NFT marketplace that launched on the Solana network in June. It was endorsed by several celebrities and businesses at the time.
Audius, meanwhile, has been making headlines after announcing a new partnership with popular social media platform TikTok. The partnership allows Audius users to share songs directly on TikTok in order to create short videos. Since its launch in 2017, TikTok has become one of the largest social media platforms in the world, with nearly 1 billion monthly active users.
Thanks to high-profile celebrity endorsements, multi-million dollar collections, and a growing recognition that digital collectibles are the future, NFT has permeated mainstream consciousness. In August alone, NFT reached $900 million in sales, easily breaking the monthly record of $255 million set in May.
Investors are shelling out millions of dollars for CryptoPunk NFTs and even paying up to six figures for ethereum-centric pet rock collections. There was an NFT giveaway at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas this year.
