• Minnesota gubernatorial candidate releases campaign for NFT

  • Scott Jensen is bringing the Minnesota State Fair to the blockchain.

The former state senator and current Republican candidate for Minnesota’s next governor announced the release of two fair-themed non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on Wednesday, claiming to be the first political movement in history to do so.

Politicians are likely to be the next group to enter the digital collectibles space as industries scramble to capitalize on the growing interest in NFTs.

These two NFTs make up Jensen’s “Scott at the Fair!” half of the series, with 25,000 copies of each edition available for $5.

Purchasing one of the NFTs entitles you to a bonus program for the entire duration of the event, such as the chance to meet Jensen and watch the Minnesota Vikings game with former NFL player Matt Birk.

Because the purchase constitutes a donation to Jensen’s campaign, there are restrictions on who can purchase NFTs and how many. The maximum donation is $4,000 per individual and $8,000 per couple.

Jensen will face incumbent Governor Tim Walz in the 2022 Minnesota gubernatorial election.
