• It was the first country in the world to launch its own NFT

  • Central European country Slovenia has announced the issuance of its own NFTs, becoming the first country in the world to do so. The Slovenian Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, in cooperation with SPIRIT, a public agency promoting entrepreneurship and investment, and the Ljubljana Science and Technology Park, is promoting Slovenia’s Expo showcase in Dubai, which will open on October 1, by issuing the latest Internet-obsessed NFTs.

    According to the announcement, the tokens will be distributed as gifts to visitors of the Slovenian Expo pavilion in the form of promotional cards with instructions. In addition, a unique eight-digit number will be assigned to all recipients, which will further allow them to access their digital wallets to receive their respective non-forgeable tokens. The country’s NFT collection will feature unique digital 3D exhibits as well as 360-degree panoramic HD photos.

    NFT can place Slovenia on a digital map

    State Secretary Simon Zajc announced the technologically advanced and innovative NFT project, stating that it could put Slovenia on the map of the most digitally advanced countries for the future development of blockchain technology. He further stated that NFT will also facilitate the development of digital capabilities of individuals and companies, as each visitor will be able to create their own digital wallet based on Slovenia’s blockchain technology.

    “Slovenia is therefore showcased as an innovative, digital and smart destination at Expo 2020 Dubai with a pavilion that is certainly worth visiting for its unique leafy facade, interesting content, new business opportunities and NFTs,” said State Secretary Simon Zajc.

    NFT trends dominate

    Due to its approachable yet unique nature, the NFT craze has taken over multiple sectors. Most recently, burger giant Burger King announced the launch of its latest Non-Food Token (NFT) campaign, Keep It Real Meal, hosted in partnership with celebrities Nelly, Anitta and LILHUDDY. Other food and beverage franchises, such as Budweiser and Taco Bell, have also experimented with the NFT marketplace with considerable success.
