• Leading NFT Marketplace Opensea Surpasses $10 Billion in All-Time Sales

  • This weekend, Opensea, the marketplace for non-forgeable tokens (NFT), surpassed $10 billion in all-time sales. Statistics show that 629,867 traders contributed to the $10 billion in sales, with an average sales price of $872 per NFT since the launch of the NFT marketplace.

    Opensea surpasses $10 billion in all-time sales

    NFT has become very popular in 2021 and the trend is continuing at the end of this year. Opensea, the leading NFT marketplace, has now reached a record milestone, surpassing $10 billion in historical NFT sales.

    Opensea is the largest NFT marketplace in history, with the second largest NFT project being Axie Infinity. with $2.99 billion in historical sales, Axie Infinity recently launched an NFT marketplace. with Axie Infinity’s sales being 29.90% of Opensea’s historical sales, the ethereum-built NFT game already has 1,031,704 traders.

    Opensea’s $10 billion in sales came after the company raised $100 million in late July. Venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz led the Series B round, with investors such as Kevin Durant, Ashton Kutcher and Toby Lutek also participating. The funding also puts Opensea in the unicorn category as well.

    However, after the funding round, Opensea’s management fired an employee after the cryptocurrency community accused the employee of insider trading. Four days later, Opensea Marketplace launched its smartphone app, so users can access the NFT Marketplace using their phones.

    Polygon-based Opensea Action Adds – Top Traders Collect Art Blocks, BAYC

    In addition to Opensea’s ethereum network support, the NFT marketplace has also taken advantage of Polygon. opensea’s monthly trading volume on ethereum has been decreasing month over month since August. While August was an all-time high for Polygon-based Opensea trading, it has remained stable for the past two months. According to Dune Analytics, the highest number of monthly active traders trading with Polygon-based Opensea was in September.

    While Opensea has had $10.25 billion in settlements, Opensea’s average price over the entire run was $872 per NFT, according to dappradar.com’s metrics. At the time of writing, according to Dune Analytics, Opensea’s top 500 traders are trading the Art Blocks series the most, followed by Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC).Art Blocks and BAYC are followed by Cool Cats, Bored Ape Kennel Club (BAKC) and Cryptotoadz.
