• Adobe prepares to integrate NFT features in Photoshop

  • In what will be a huge win for NFT artists and creators, image processing software giant Photoshop is developing some NFT-specific additions to its coveted program.

According to reports, Adobe is currently building a set of verifiable data points within Photoshop. As a result, this will create a file fingerprint that will effectively track ownership of individual NFTs. As a result, creators will be able to link their wallet address to their Adobe ID and therefore provide a de facto proof of ownership.

This additional functionality will come in the form of a “Prepare NFT” option, which will add a set of attribution dates to the Star File System. This will then go into the datasets of participating NFT platforms, with Opensea, Rarible, KnownOrigin and SuperRare all already on board to provide compatibility for displaying Adobe attribution data.

Development is well underway for this additional component of Photoshop, and Adobe’s chief product officer Scott Belsky has hinted that the updated technology will be seen for the first time “at the end of this month”.

With the nefarious activities plaguing the digital asset industry, more protections are needed. And, a clear proof of creation would provide a welcome addition. However, only time will tell if this will have a long-term impact on the industry as a whole.
