India’s leading online travel portal MakeMyTrip announced today on Twitter their foray into the NFT (non-fungible tokens) space to discover and explore popular as well as hidden gems in the country.
Travel Portals Explore the NFT Space
MakeMyTrip is one of the first Indian brands of travel that has decided to step into the world of NFTs. Currently, MakeMyTrip has digitally crafted landscape artworks of a variety of places in India including Goa, Ladakh, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir, Kerala, Meghalaya, Rajasthan, and Andamans. The iconic NFT project by MakeMyTrip is called ‘Virtual Vacations NFT Collection.’ This collection has been minted by the leading Ethereum Blockchain platform, Polygon Blockchain. The online travel platform plans to give away all the proceeds from the NFT sales to support travel projects that promote sustainable tourism in India.
The Group Chief Marketing Officer of MakeMyTrip stated, “We are offering travel enthusiasts an opportunity to be owners in the digital domain.”
MakeMyTrip has launched 25 tokens, each starting from INR 14,999, and can be made available on a first-come-first-serve basis.
