Hall of Fame Resorts and Entertainment has partnered with a handful of NFL legends to mint a new line of non-friable tokens (NFT).
The “Playbooks” NFT series will bring together several of the greatest National Football League (NFL) players to commemorate the moments and games that made their careers possible. Hall of Fame Resorts and Entertainment (HOFV), along with Dolphin Entertainment (DLPN), announced the new NFT series.
The series features six NFL players who left a lasting impact on the game and now hopes that legacy will continue in the digital space. These include Los Angeles Raiders great Marcus Allen, Heisman Trophy winners Tim Brown and Earl Campbell, three-time Super Bowl champion Shannon Sharpe, MVP Joe Theismann and 1948 Heisman winner Doak Walker.
According to HOFV President and CEO Michael Crawford, “We have a unique opportunity to work with some of the most legendary athletes to ever play football, and are honored to bring some of their most defining moments to life in this unique format. We continue to explore new and exciting ways to bring athletes and their fans closer together, and are excited to bring this groundbreaking NFT series to market.”
Playbooks NFT Collection
Each former pro player involved will have a short print of the NFTs available. Each featured collectible will have an off-painting of the player attached to the NFT describing the specific moment shown. These NFTs were created to commemorate games during an athlete’s college or professional career that were chosen by the athlete and represent key or defining moments in each player’s career.
Purchasing one of the NFTs will give you the opportunity to unlock some additional content. Unlockable content can include meet and greets, signed memorabilia and other opportunities to participate. In addition, any collector who manages to purchase a different NFT of a specific player from the sale will automatically receive an invitation to a live video call with that player. The press release indicates that purchasers have additional opportunities to receive signed jerseys and even a pair of tickets to the 2022 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Canton, Ohio.
Each NFT will be available for $25 each on the FTX NFT Marketplace beginning Aug. 5, rather than being auctioned off. Collectors can use the FTX platform to pay with cryptocurrency, debit or credit cards.
