• NFT Charity Auction to Benefit Low-Income Families in Singapore

  • The Blockchain Association of Singapore (BAS) and the National Trades Union Congress of Singapore (NTUC) U Care Fund today announced their inaugural Non-Fungible Token (NFT) charity auction, Blockchain for Good, which will take place from 4-10 October.

    The charity event – supported by a host of companies including Singapore Airlines, Amazon Web Services, law firm Drew & Napier, art gallery Ode to Art and cryptocurrency exchange Coinhako – aims to raise S$250,000 (US$186,000) for the NTUC-U Care Fund to help low-income union members and their families.

    Public figures, influencers and even members of the Bruneian royal family will attend the event.Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Hamlatul Arsy Mulia, daughter of HRH Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, Singapore’s Speaker of Parliament Tan Chuan-Jin and NFT influencer Mai Fujimoto have pledged to provide NFT artwork for the auction.

    The public can contribute their NFTs to the auction or participate through the website www.singaporenft.org.

    NFT, a unique digital asset whose authenticity and ownership is tracked on the blockchain, has attracted mainstream attention and seen phenomenal growth in the past year. According to DappRadar, total NFT sales in August exceeded $5 billion. Since then, transaction volumes have softened from record highs.
