At the start of the week, Sandbox decided to set a new sales record for the Bored Ape Yacht Club. The company purchased Bored Ape #3749 for a staggering 740 ETH (about $2.9 million at the time of the sale).
The previous all-time record didn’t get a chance to shine in the spotlight for long. Just a few days ago, Bored Ape #7090, one of the rarest apes due to its “pure gold fur” characteristics, sold at Sotheby’s for 600 ETH to NFT collector Robistraveling.
The Sandbox team purchased their Bored Ape from Andy Booth and James Booth (aka the Booth brothers). The Booth brothers have been incredibly successful at selling domains and are known as high risk and high reward investors. They purchased Bored Ape #3749 for 400 ETH less than a month ago and sold it to Sandbox for more than twice that amount, taking in a $1.5 million profit flip after gas fees. It was an impressive transaction indeed.
Sandbox already owns a large number of Bored Ape, Mutant Bored Ape and Bored Ape Kennel Club NFTs.
