• Snoop Dogg buys X_COPYEthereum NFT for $3.9 million

  • Rapper and entertainer Snoop Dogg hasn’t slowed down on his high-value collection since revealing last week that he’s a noted collector of pseudonymous NFTs. In fact, just tonight, he spent nearly $4 million in ETH on a piece by artist X_COPY.

Using his NFT collecting alias Cozomo de Medici, Snoop purchased X_COPY’s animated Ethereum NFT “Some Asshole” on the SuperRare marketplace for $1,300 ETH. That’s just $3.9 million worth of ETH.

“Welcome ‘Some Asshole’ to the Medici villa. Let’s hope he’s polite at Nonna’s Sunday dinner,” Cozomo tweeted shortly after.” Honored to have the first published figure from X_COPY and the #7 mint on SuperRare.”

X_COPY’s artwork has increasingly become a blue chip in the world of NFT artwork. Just last week, according to DappRadar, an unidentified buyer paid 1,000 ETH ($2.92 million) for another XCOPY piece titled “All Time Heights of the City.”

Snoop’s new XCOPY NFT previously sold for just 100 ETH in March, when it was worth about $181,000, according to SuperRare. Prior to that, it sold for 25 ETH (about $8,200) in September 2020.

The NFT is like a receipt for a rare digital item, verified by the blockchain. xCOPY specializes in animated images, but the NFT can also represent still artwork, video files, interactive video game items, and almost any other type of digital commodity.

Last week, Snoop Dogg revealed that he has been amassing a valuable NFT collection under the pseudonym Cozomo de’ Medici, who joined Twitter in August.

Cozomo’s collection is indeed valuable, estimated to be worth over $17 million as of last week, thanks to his ownership of several CryptoPunks, many Art Blocks NFTs, and much more.

Snoop Dogg Is Selling 1,000 NFT Passes For A Private Ether Meta Zone Party

Since his first reveal, Snoop has announced a partnership with The Sandbox, an upcoming ethereum-based metaverse game. Snoop will have a custom-designed area in the game and a private party for NFT pass holders, including an in-game concert.

Sandbox will also sell other Snoopy-themed NFTs, including playable avatars that look like him, and customizable LAND plots adjacent to Snoopy’s own terrain.
