• Topps Drops MLB World Series NFT Series – Championship game participants receive a specific NFT for each game

  • Popular candy and collectibles company Topps has announced the launch of its 2021 Topps NOW MLB World Series Non-Friable Token (NFT) collection, following the company’s second series of the 2021 Topps Baseball NFT collection. Similar to the company’s past NFT placements, Topps is leveraging the Avalanche blockchain network for a new World Series NFT collection.

    Over the past year, Topps Company, Inc. an American company that produces Bazooka gum, candy and collectibles, has been focusing heavily on non-friable tokens (NFT) and blockchain technology. The company has released a number of collections featuring fan-favorite Major League Baseball (MLB) and Garbage Pail Kids. Two weeks ago, the company launched a series called “The Wrath of Godzilla” with an NFT pack showcasing 17 pages of comic book animation.

    Following the recent 2021 Topps Baseball NFT series, Topps has released the 2021 Topps NOW MLB World Series NFT series. Powered by the Avalanche blockchain, this new series dedicated to the World Series offers “officially licensed player images and NFT-exclusive digital animations.” The series launches on October 27, and if fans collect the entire series by Tuesday, November 9 at 11:59 p.m. (EST), they will receive a special Topps NOW NFT variant as a reward.

    According to Topps, the 2021 World Series NFT collector’s packs are $25 each and include one NFT digital collectible per pack. There are only 1,000 packs per day, and each pack has an equal chance of winning a rare item, as all individual items are scarce. The announcement states that NFT buyers will receive their packs within three business days of the conclusion of the MLB World Series.

    In addition to the placement of the World Series NFT series, fans attending the World Series in person this year will have the opportunity to redeem Topps NOW NFTs exclusive to that game. fans simply need to scan their World Series tickets for each game day or utilize the Ballpark App. The company’s announcement concludes that the redemption period for exclusive Topps NOW NFTs will end on November 15 at 11:59 p.m. (EST).

    Sports NFTs have been popular, and Topps has capitalized on its physical collection of cards issued in the past. Another popular sports-related NFT program is NBA Top Shot, which has grossed $717.93 million in sales to date.
