• Zee Studios Announces NFT-Drop on Polygon

  • India-based entertainment giant Zee Studios has partnered with SaaS non-fungible tokens (NFT) marketplace provider NFTically to launch its first NFT placement on Polygon, an ethereum scaling solution.

    In the announcement, Zee Studios said it is offering NFTs of signed posters for its film “Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari,” a comedy about a wedding detective whose background check on the future groom leads to trouble for all involved.The NFTs will be part of the “Zee Studios Collection” and are being offered by NFTically provided.

    “It is a defining moment for us to be the first film studio in India to launch NFT, a move that dovetails with our future plans,” said Shariq Patel, Chief Commercial Officer, Zee Studios, in a press release.” Zee Studios will offer NFT to film lovers and collectors through its robust library of film content.”

    Founded in 2012, Zee Studios is a subsidiary of Essel Group and is known for distributing films in India across genres, budgets and languages. With Zee catching the NFT bug, other Indian entertainment giants may soon follow suit.

    Recently, Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan launched his digital collection through the NFT platform Beyondlife.club.NFT is a unique, verifiable crypto token that represents various tangible and intangible items such as pictures and videos.

    The cryptocurrency sub-sector has exploded this year due to growing interest in the world of art, sports and media, with data tracked by DappRadar showing that NFT sales rose to $2.47 billion in the first half of 2021, up from a paltry amount a year earlier. OpenSea, the world’s largest NFT platform, recorded $1.9 billion in trading volume in August, compared to $8 million in January, Reuters reported.

    NFTically is a global B2B SaaS platform that allows celebrities, influencers, gamers, clubs and businesses to launch their own white-label NFT stores without having any technical knowledge.
